这份信经被称为使徒信经，并非因为是使徒亲自所作，而是因为其简要地总结了使徒的教导，阐明了使徒的教义。有人形容这份信经「崇高的朴素，绝伦的简洁，荣美的次序，礼赞的庄重」。今天我们手上的形式，成型时期不晚于四世纪。在整个基督教历史上，再没有任何其他信经可以攀比使徒信经更配称为大公信仰的标志了。
1. 我信上帝，全能的父， 创造天地的主。
2. 我信我主耶稣基督，上帝的独生子；
3. 因着圣灵感孕，从童贞女马利亚所生；
4. 在本丢彼拉多手下受难，被钉在十字架上，受死，埋葬；
5. 降在阴间；第三天从死里复活；
6. 祂升天，坐在全能父上帝的右边；
7. 将来必从那里降临，审判活人，死人。
8. 我信圣灵；
9. 我信圣而公之教会；我信圣徒相通；
10. 我信罪得赦免，
11. 我信身体复活；
12. 我信永生。阿们！
This Creed is called the Apostles’ Creed, not because it is a production of the apostles themselves, but because it contains a brief summary of their teachings. It sets forth their doctrine, as has been well said, “in sublime simplicity, in unsurpassable brevity, in beautiful order, and with liturgical solemnity.” In its present form it is of no later date than the fourth century. More than any other creed of Christendom, it may justly be called an ecumenical symbol of faith.
1. I believe in God the Father, Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.
2. And in Jesus Christ, His only begotten Son, our Lord;
3. Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary;
4. Suffered under Pontius Pilate; was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell;
5. The third day He rose again from the dead;
6. He ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
7. From thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.
8. I believe in the Holy Spirit.
9. I believe a holy catholic Church, the communion of saints;
10. The forgiveness of sins;
11. The resurrection of the body;
12. And the life everlasting. AMEN.
